3. MATTHEW3 PALMER (WILLIAM2, MATTHEW1) was born January
29, 1756, and died October 2, 1822 in Clifton Park NY. He married REBECCA GIDLEY. Rebeckah
Gidley was born 10 March 1756 in Massachusetts, daughter of Henry Gidley Jr.
and Elizabeth Ricketson. Matthew and
Rebecca were among the eight founding members of the Clifton Park Baptist
Church. Among the other founders was
Abijah Peck, who became the first pastor of that church and who preached the
funeral service for Matthew's father in 1802.

Matthew's will was dated 23
October 1820 and was proved November 11, 1822. (Will Book 5, pages 447 et.seq.)
He left a life estate to his wife Rebecca; bequests to his sons Henry Palmer
and William Palmer; and to his daughters Elizabeth wife of Ebenezer Upham,
Hannah Briggs (widow), and Rebecca wife of John Morse. In the division of the estate, the daughters
were to receive one share each while the sons received two shares each. He also made provision in his will for the
children of his deceased son Daniel and his deceased daughter Mary by her
husband Elijah [Landfier?]. He named as
executors Frederick Taylor and his sons Henry and William Palmer. The witnesses to the execution of the will
were Francis Visscher, Cornelius Faling and John Althouse. As with many early estate files, there are no
surviving petitions or citations stating the locations at which the legatees or
next of kin were living at the time of probate of the will.

4. HENRY4 PALMER (MATTHEW3, WILLIAM2, MATTHEW1) was born November 5, 1790 in Clifton Park NY, and
died December 5, 1863 in Clifton Park NY.
He married MAHALA ALTHOUSE. The Bible
record gives birth date as the 25th. He
had military service in War of 1812.
He was a member of the Saratoga County Agricultural Society,
and served on its first Executive Committee, he and Abijah Peck Jr.
representing Clifton Park.
The will of "Henry Palmer of the age of 65 years"
was dated May 6, 1856, and was proved January 6, 1864. According to the petition for probate by
Gidley Palmer, Henry's widow Mahala and daughter Eleanor wife of Rensselaer
Brown, and his two brothers John and Henry all lived in Clifton Park. Henry's daughter Sybil Ann wife of Alonzo J.
Chadsey and his brother Peter lived in Schenectady.
The estate file included
two letters by John H. Chadsey, attorney, on behalf of his mother "Mrs.
Dr. Chadsey."
Among many deeds conveying land to Henry is one dated 27
April 1835 in which he purchased 49 acres, part of lot #5 of lot 21 in the 4th
Allotment of the Clifton Park Patent. He
purchased another 33 acres in 1841 in three lots from his son Peter, who lived
in Schenectady County: these lots had
been part of the estate of Ephraim Knowlton and had been deeded to Peter by the
estate's executors. The executors were
Henry Palmer and Alexander P. Knowlton.
Henry sold 40 acres to his son Gidley in 1852.
Mahala's will dated January 6, 1870, left household furniture
to her daughters Sibyl Ann and Nelly, his father's watch and the family Bible
to son Charles William Palmer, and money to insure the education of Charles
William's children.

Springs in 1880. John operated a store
at Grooms Corners and was postmaster of that location's post office from May 9,
1848 until October 18, 1865.

(Clifton Park Vital Records), 1897, in Clifton Park NY, and was buried in
Watervliet NY. He married (1) HARRIET VANVORST December 24,
1851. He married (2) ANNA AUGUSTA WALLACE October 9,
1864. He married (3) ALIDA FORT TYMESEN February
16, 1881, daughter of MATTHEW FORT and HELEN.
In 1875 Gidley Palmer's farm schedule on the census listed 52
improved acres plus a 10-acre woodlot.
He had 300 apple trees, raised oats, buckwheat and hay; livestock
included 2 milk cows, 2 horses and 2 swine.
Gidley at one time also
owned property in Cohoes, Albany County.
On November 1 1870, John Palmer sold him one lot there.

His son Alvah Covey was born at Halfmoon, Saratoga County on 22 July 1810 and married on 6 February 1837 Jane daughter of John Hardick. Alvah moved to Penfield, Genesee County about 1838. Alvah's son Frank H. Covey was born in Penfield in 1861. Frank married Minnie J. Palmer, who was born in Clifton Park, Saratoga County, on 18 December 1860, daughter of Henry and Louisa (Groom) Palmer of Glenville.

19. WILLIAM6 PALMER (GIDLEY5, HENRY4, MATTHEW3, WILLIAM2, MATTHEW1) was born October 1, 1858 in Clifton Park NY, and died
October 6, 1918 in Clifton Park NY. He
married LEILA M. VISSCHER.
William's will dated January 6, 1918 named his wife Leila M.
Palmer as executrix. She petitioned for
probate of the will and was appointed sole executrix. Another petition later stated that Leila had
died on 2 Decmber 1924 leaving unfinished the estate of her husband William
Palmer: that petition was submitted by
their nephew Everett A. Palmer, who was on 16 February 1925 named administrator
with will attached. A accounting by the
executors of the Estate of Leila M. Palmer mentioned that she had sold the
family fruit farm in 1921 to Adolph Braun.
In the estate file is a copy of a petition and the resulting
court order from Butler County, Kansas.
In that petition Noble E. Palmer, age 16, asking that the court confer
upon him the rights of majority in anticipation of his participation in this
estate. The court order was granted on
November 10, 1925.
Clifton Park Vital Records transcriptions identify the mother
of Grace Alma Palmer as
"Eliza" M. (Visscher) Palmer.
The Will of Leila M. Palmer, dated 12 January 1921, mentioned
bequests to her brother James N. Visscher, to a nephew Harold Nessle Visscher,
to a niece Lena V. Mosher and to a cousin Elizabeth L. Flack. Byron K. Flack and William Mosher Sr., both
of Clifton Park, were named as executors.
