James Hays came with his wife Mary soon after the Revolution from New Jersey - settled in the Jersey Hill area of Galway. Came from Schenectady by Indian trail with their possessions on pack horses. Had 2 daughters and 2 sons. The youngest son James D. lived in Galway in 1878. He was born about the time of his dad's death and was about 20 years younger than his youngest sister. James and Mary came with John Hinman, Richard Paul, Peter Anderson, Mr. Harrison, Mr. Hedding, and Dudley Smith. |
